Entrepreneurship Day returns to DMU on Tuesday 5 November, and all students are invited!
Taking place at The Venue between 10.30am and 12.30pm, the event features a series of short, TedX-style talks from guest speakers exploring various topics relating to starting and managing their own businesses, with a Q&A session after each session.
This year, actor Toby-Alexander Smith, known for his roles in EastEnders, An American in Austen, and Krypton, will be joining us to discuss his journey in creating a short film through a Kickstarter campaign.
Toby said: “I’m really looking forward to coming and sharing my experience of successfully crowdfunding a film project”.
Other speakers on the day will include Entrepreneurship and Innovation student Paige Billings and DMU’s Inside Edge Mentoring Manager, Andy Morris.
Simon Baines, Enterprise Project Manager at DMU said: “Entrepreneurship Day is always fun and inspirational. People will get to see some fantastic speakers share insights and expertise and we’re thrilled that this year’s event is part of Leicester Business Festival, making it a public event open for all”.
Previous years have involved guest speakers such as chef Kwoklyn Wan and BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat Journalist Calum Leslie taking the stage.
Entrepreneurship Day is in partnership with The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity.
Free tickets to the annual Entrepreneurship Awards
DMU’s Entrepreneurship Awards will also take place after Entrepreneurship Day at The Venue from 1.45pm – 2pm, with everybody invited to attend.
Organised by the DMU Made team in partnership with The Sir Thomas White Loan Charity, the event celebrates the university’s commitment to young entrepreneurs. This informal event which is open to all will feature special guests Calum Leslie (Radio 1) and performances from Harrison Pettman (Britain’s Got Talent).
The annual Pitch2Win competition will also be taking place as part of the award ceremony, where finalists will showcase their business ideas in front of the attendees who will vote for an overall winner.
