Celebrations to mark Lunar New Year will be taking place on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 February across Leicester to see in the .
Also known as Spring Festival, the Chinese New Year celebration is a vibrant tradition that brings luck and prosperity for the new year.
Cosmopolitan Arts is leading on a number of events that will be taking place this weekend, including performances, lion dances and fireworks to help Leicester mark the celebrations.
Saturday 10 February
11am-4pm
Performances throughout the day at Leicester Museum & Art Gallery including traditional dances and music performed on traditional Chinese instruments.
Sunday 11 February
3pm
Lion Dance performance outside the Food Village at DMU.
3.30pm
A lantern-lit procession from Jubilee Square, which will include puppetry, lion dancers and dragons, The procession will weave its way through the city centre, finishing at Town Hall Square at 4.30pm.
4.30pm
Performance at Town Hall Square featuring fireworks, pyrotechnics, Lion Dance and traditional Chinese music.
