Additional accommodation contract considerations

Be sure to check the yearly charge as well as the weekly charge because some contracts are longer than others.

If you confirm your room booking, it is a legally binding commitment to pay for the whole contract length.

Whilst the halls do not require a payment prior to arrival, check the instalments dates. You must ensure you have your finance available to make the payments. Your student loan is not usually deposited until after you have enrolled on your course. Some useful links while considering your options and budget:

You do not need a guarantor for DMU owned/managed halls, but private providers will request one. If you do not have a guarantor you could have to pay the full annual rent upfront (as well as things like booking payments and damage deposits) before you can move in (see specific tenancy agreements).

See payment methods.

Late payment charges

If you are staying in DMU owned and managed halls, there are no late payment charges.

If the debt is eventually pursued through the courts, you could be liable for costs.

Any outstanding debts to private providers could incur charges.
