Sustainable and delicious: DMU welcomes Mumbai-style street food to the Riverside

On Thursday 30 November, the Riverside Café based at DMU’s Vijay Patel Building officially reopens with a delicious new food provider.

, which stands for Shree Krishna Vada Pav, sells sustainable vegetarian and vegan food. To coincide with the start of COP28, the grand opening from midday on Thursday will feature dhol drumming, Bollywood dancers and a live DJ.

The new opening times are 10am to 10pm every day.

Mirroring the diverse flavours of SKVP’s origins in Mumbai, the menu features Maharashtrian and pan-Indian cuisine, with fresh, customisable and affordable dishes.

Highlights include:

  • Misal pav (vegan): spicy yellow pea curry topped with fried gram flour strands (farsan) and onion. Served with two baps
  • Paneer grill sandwich: Spicy marinated paneer with onion and cheese, drizzled with green chutney
  • Papdi chaat: Tangy, sweet and spicy chutney drizzled on crisp fried dough wafers (papdi), topped with potato and yoghurt with a garnish of coriander, potato, pomegranate, peanuts and fried gram flour strands (sev).
  • Spicy paneer wrap: grilled spicy paneer and onion in a tortilla.
  • Masala chai: refreshing milky tea with ginger, cardamom and spices
