All the Sustainable Development Goals and what you can do

1 - no povertyGoal 1: No Poverty

Economic growth must be inclusive to provide sustainable jobs and promote equality

What can I do? Donate what you don’t use – more than 700 million people still live in extreme poverty.

2 - zero hungerGoal 2: Zero Hunger

The food and agriculture sector offers key solutions for development, and is central for hunger and poverty eradication

What can I do? Waste less food and support local farmers – a third of the world’s food is wasted, yet 821 million people are under-nourished.

3 - good healthGoal 3: Good Health and Well-being

Ensuring healthy lives and promoting the well-being for all at all ages is essential to sustainable development

What can I do? Vaccinate your family – vaccinations resulted in an 80% drop in measles deaths between 2000 and 2017.

4 - educationGoal 4: Quality Education

Obtaining a quality education is the foundation to improving people’s lives and sustainable development

What can I do? Help educate the children in your community – 617 million children and adolescents lack the minimum proficiency in reading and maths.

5 - gender equalityGoal 5: Gender Equality

Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world

What can I do? Empower women and girls and ensure their equal rights – 1 in 3 women have experienced sexual and/or physical violence.

6 - clean waterGoal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation

Clean, accessible water for all is an essential part of the world we want to live in

What can I do? Avoid wasting water – water scarcity affects more than 40% of the world’s population.

7 - affordableGoal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy

Energy is central to nearly every major challenge and opportunity

What can I do? Use only energy efficient appliances and lightbulbs. Three billion people still lack clean cooking fuels and technologies.

8 - decent workGoal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth

Sustainable economic growth will require societies to create the conditions that allow people to have quality jobs

What can I do? Create job opportunities for youth – one-fifth of young people are not in education, training or work.

9 - industryGoal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure

Investments in infrastructure are crucial to achieving sustainable development

What can I do? Fund projects that provide basic infrastructure – roads, water, sanitation and electricity remain scarce in many developing countries.

10 - inequalityGoal 10: Reduced Inequalities

To reduce inequalities, policies should be universal in principle, paying attention to the needs of disadvantaged and marginalized populations

What can I do? Support the marginalised and disadvantaged – the poorest 40% of the population earn less than 25% of the global income.

11 - sustainableGoal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities

There needs to be a future in which cities provide opportunities for all, with access to basic services, energy, housing, transportation and more

What can I do? Bike, walk or use public transport – 9 out of 10 urban residents breathe polluted air.

12 - responsibleGoal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

Responsible production and consumption

What can I do? Recycle paper, plastics, glass and aluminium – by 2050, the equivalent of three planets could be required to sustain current lifestyles.

13 - climate actionGoal 13: Climate Action

Climate change is a global challenge that affects everyone, everywhere

What can I do? Act now to stop global warming – Global emission of carbon dioxide (CO2) have increased by almost 50% since 1990.

14 - life below waterGoal 14: Life Below Water

Careful management of this essential global resource is a key feature of a sustainable future

What can I do? Avoid plastic bags to keep the oceans clean – over three billion people depend on marine and coastal biodiversity for their livelihoods.

15 - life on landGoal 15: Life on Land

Sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, halt and reverse land degradation, halt and reverse land degradation, halt biodiversity loss

What can I do? Plant a tree and help protect the environment – forests are home to more than 80% of all terrestrial species of animals, plants and insects.

16 - peace justiceGoal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions

Access to justice for all, and building effective, accountable institutions at all levels

What can I do? Stand up for human rights – in 2018, the number of people fleeing war, persecution and conflict exceeded 70 million.

17 - partnershipsGoal 17: Partnerships

Revitalize the global partnership for sustainable development

What can I do? Lobby your Government to increase development funding – achieving the SDGs could open up £9.3 trillion of market opportunities and create 380 million jobs by 2030.
