Students gain 'invaluable careers advice' from successful DMU graduates

Business and Law students have gained 'invaluable careers advice' from recent graduates of ̨ÍåÂãÁÄÖ±²¥ Leicester (DMU).

The faculty's careers team organised a networking session in Trinity Chapel, inviting successful alumni back to campus to share their experiences with final-year students.

Taking part in round table discussions, the students could ask anything they wanted about placements, interviews, jobs and more, with the DMU graduates 'pleased to give something back'.

Sumayyah Yusuf, who studies Law, said: "I believe networking is a great skill to have, as you meet various people from different backgrounds and you get to learn a lot from each other and their experiences, too.

"I benefited a lot by attending this event, as I managed to meet lawyers who gave me invaluable advice as well as former business students who gave me tips and possible alternative career ideas."

This isn't the first time Sumayyah has taken advantage of the help and opportunities offered through the #DMUworks careers programme. After attending the annual Legal Networking and Volunteering event in the Hugh Aston building, she was selected to participate in the Business Exchange Network, organised by solicitors Bray & Bray.

"I am so grateful for these opportunities. Thank you careers team," she said.

Law graduate and now solicitor with Wright Hassall LLP, Myles Bennett, was among the alumni sharing his experiences.

"It was a pleasure to attend and I have had lots of questions from students following the event, which is great for both," he said. "I'm glad I can give something back."
