Personal profile

Methodologically my research primarily utilises video recordings to investigate work-place practices, activities and sites of learning, informed by the sociological research traditions of ethnomethodology, conversation analysis and symbolic interactionism.

The worksite settings analysed to date include medical consultations (e.g. GP, Memory Clinics), air force communication and military inquiries, and an educational setting for adults with learning difficulties.

My research plans include the exploration of the design and delivery of communication interventions in medical consultations; profession sport, mental health, confidentiality and media ethics; and medical neutrality in armed conflict situations.
